EXHIBITION
People have always wondered what the future holds in store. Even in the archive, a place where you can delve into the past, we’re working on the future. Here we collect the digital information we create today to be able to look back on it tomorrow.
Now, amidst huge leaps in technology and the rise of ‘big data’, we face important practical questions about this process: how do we preserve all this digital information? How can we find what we’re looking for in an overwhelming amount of data? And what special skills and knowledge does all this require?
Besides these practicalities, there are also existential questions. What will the future relevance of archives be? And how will this be influenced by further technological advancements like Artificial Intelligence and Linked Open Data?
“In times of doubt about the authenticity of sources, one thing is certain. The information you find at the Noord-Hollands Archief is always reliable.”
– Willeke de Groot (director Noord-Hollands Archief) –
